The Origins of Galentine's Day!

Galentine’s Day is a heartfelt celebration of friendship, sisterhood, and the women who add beauty and meaning to our lives. Observed each year on February 13th, it centers the relationships that support us, inspire us, and help us evolve. Rather than focusing on romance, Galentine’s Day highlights community, joy, and the power of women uplifting one another.

The idea first gained attention in 2010 on the TV show Parks and Recreation, when the character Leslie Knope created a special day devoted to brunch, laughter, and celebrating her closest friends. What began as a fictional moment quickly became a real-life tradition because it struck a chord with women everywhere. It offered something deeply meaningful: a way to celebrate friendship with intention and care.

Today, Galentine’s Day has grown into a cultural moment embraced across generations. Women gather for brunches, events, self-care experiences, and joyful moments that honor connection and empowerment. It is about showing appreciation, creating memories, and reminding one another that sisterhood is something worth cherishing.

That spirit is the heart behind the Galentine’s R&B Brunch, where community, music, and celebration come together to honor the beauty and strength of women supporting women.
