The Origins of Galentine's Day!

Galentine’s Day is a celebration of friendship, sisterhood, and the women who make life beautiful. Held every year on February 13th, it’s a day dedicated to honoring the connections that support us, inspire us, and help us grow. Instead of focusing on romance, Galentine’s Day shifts the spotlight to community, joy, and the power of women uplifting women.

The holiday began in 2010 on the TV show Parks and Recreation, when the character Leslie Knope created a special day to gather her closest friends for brunch, laughter, and thoughtful gifts. What started as a fictional moment on television quickly became a real-life tradition because it resonated with women everywhere. It offered something meaningful: a space to celebrate friendship with intention.

Today, Galentine’s Day has become a cultural moment embraced across generations. Women come together for brunches, events, self-care gatherings, and unforgettable experiences that celebrate connection and empowerment. It’s about showing appreciation, making memories, and reminding each other that sisterhood is something to be cherished.

This spirit is exactly what inspired the Galentine’s R&B Brunch, where community, music, and celebration come together to honor the best parts of women supporting women.
